It is just a simple game

christinanelsonvfx

Hello!

Christina again with another fun topic of popular games and the trends on what gamers love so much.

There are so many different type of games now at days from simple 1 player game mode to multiple play to Virtual Reality. The question is which one do you choose? Do you lean towards what everyone else is playing?

As a gamer myself, I personally enjoy simple play mode games like Fortnite and my new favorite and addicting, Animal Crossing New Horizons. I asked my friends what were most enjoyable. The biggest hot item right now is the new Final fantasy XV.

From my understanding ,the game is a remix from 2015. Just by looking at the trailer, the graphics did a huge upgrade. Coming from someone who is not familiar with the franchise, I asked myself, why make a remake version? It was a smart move from the designer's point of view. FF has a huge reputation and they have a big follow rate, a community at will. Many gamers even pre ordered the game before the release date becuase of the popularity.

Now I chose this game because I am not familiar and it is fun to learn how a game works looking at it from the inside to out.

I asked a friend of mine, Mark who is game streamer and a huge fan of the franchise about how he felt about the game. THANK YOU MARK FOR YOUR INPUT!!!!!!!!

Mark is a long term fan of the Final Fantasy series and he mentioned that each game has its own story line base, not including FF10, 13 and of course 7 the remake. He mentioned that FF7 remake has been in the talks for over 16 years so fans have been waiting for this moment. This game is a fan favorate hence why it is so popular and there are 2 sides of fan expectations: those who encourage the change and those who dont. Mark explained that there are very few games out there made him feel personally touched. He lost track of time because the game made him feel like a child again.

The game itself is visually impressive, which is one of the top reasons for a game to succeed, however there was more to it according to Mark. The designers decided to take the chance on recreating FF7 with some new upgrades. With full story acrs, people were afraid of the gmae being too serious. A fear that most fans had were potential changes in the story mode. Keep in mind, it took over 16 years for this game to become a reality. There was talks of recreating FF7 in 2005. There was a hard task in hand for the designers to give what their fans been wanting for years but also keep up with the game industry and modernize the game.

The Heart of the game is what gave the fans a taste of the old and mix with the new. If you were to compare both games side by the side, the story did not change much. The designers stead focused on small little details and gave unanswered questions. There were certain story beats within the story line that linked everything together. And more importantly the characterization matched from the previous game. Characterization is a big factor within this game play. Knowing the relationships between the characters, emotions, hand gestures, how each character motions their reactions, and all the little details.

Another big reason why the game was developed was the monetary gain and pressure that fans followed in wanting this dream to become a reality. This game gives story, inspires new vision and cast a purpose.

The entire purpose of this blog is to highlight the big picture and recognize what a successful game chain. The developers took their time to make this game right, listened to what their fans wanted in the process and made it their own. These are a great basis that game designers need to keep in mind before putting their game out there in the world.
